More event time accurancy
There is only hh.mm.ss. I have to know exact time (milliseconds or nanoseconds) for order rows in the grid.
Also column "ID" with incrementing number will bee very useful for the grid sort.3 votesWe will certainly add this in the next version, just need to investigate if this could break any backward compatibility.

Additional action options within the application
Would be great if the software would allow copy/move/delete file actions as an event instead of having to create/maintain a .bat file to execute upon trigger.

Check file type changes to help stop Ramsonware
Trace file type change.
This would help with Ramsonware.
They change the file type from eg. Excel file type to something else due to encryption and they do it on several files within a short period of time.8 votes -
Include a scheduler module to allow the scheduling of applications
A sceduler to run applications would be useful

Catch Ransomware in the act
Monitor files for encryption to minimize effect of Ransomware
2 votesThis is a very common use case for a lot of users. The actions that users take however varies quite a bit based on their own requirements. Some people configure firewall rules, some run removal tools, some shut-down the PC etc, in almost all cases and email is sent. For us to provide this configuration and necessary filters out -of-the-box would require a significant investment in continued research of crypto malware in order to keep monitoring effective.
That being said, we may still pursue this because when configured correctly, Directory Monitor is very effective as an early detection system for crypto viruses and has already been successful in numerous live installations. With enough support for this idea we may take this on.

Checksum or hash sum on files
Add an option to collect a checksum on files (using MD5 or some other algorithm) if Directory Monitor detects a file change. This would allow for easier and more accurate tracking of files moving (from one folder to another), being edited, and renamed.

Ability to manage multiple installs in one location (web interface)
For example, on install you are prompted to install either the service or the management console/web interface, or both. The service could then be installed on a number of additional machines, and managed centrally via the console/web interface.
This would be ideal for enterprise users.

Monitor directory only during specific times
Add an option to allow monitoring a directory only during specific times during the day (such as business hours). Outside of the configured range the monitor will be disabled and no events will be logged or acted upon.
The range should cater for days of the week and times during that day. Would having a month option be useful (to monitor only in January for example)?

Monitor a folder for files that had been there for to long
I have a system that import files from certain folders and the need to monitor so there not will be files standing in these folders.
And have to be able to set certain time that the file may be in the folder78 votesThis should be possible now as a directory plugin. This will use the creation/modification date on the files to determine the age and possibly touch the dates when the file is detected. Periodic scans will take place to determine ages and and a new event called “Expired” will be created when old files are detected.

FTP Plugin
A simple FTP uploader plugin that will attach and and push new/changed files to an FTP server.
Still thinking about what should happen to deleted files, should they also be removed on the FTP server? The plugin will have similar functionality to the emailer with regard to options. Need to be careful about performance when there is a high volume of events. Errors can easily occur as well if files go missing during uploads or connectivity becomes a problem.

Reporting Plugin
Generate PDF and/or Excel reports of directory activity. The reports can include statistics, summaries, charts and graphs to display overall activity for each directory as well as all directories combined.
This report could be generated on a daily basis and coupled with the Emailer plugin to send a scheduled update. Reports could also be generated manually which would mean having to archive all event data so that is can be retrieved long after being cleared in the UI.
