Additional action options within the application

Catch Ransomware in the act
Monitor files for encryption to minimize effect of Ransomware
2 votesThis is a very common use case for a lot of users. The actions that users take however varies quite a bit based on their own requirements. Some people configure firewall rules, some run removal tools, some shut-down the PC etc, in almost all cases and email is sent. For us to provide this configuration and necessary filters out -of-the-box would require a significant investment in continued research of crypto malware in order to keep monitoring effective.
That being said, we may still pursue this because when configured correctly, Directory Monitor is very effective as an early detection system for crypto viruses and has already been successful in numerous live installations. With enough support for this idea we may take this on.

Monitor directory only during specific times
Add an option to allow monitoring a directory only during specific times during the day (such as business hours). Outside of the configured range the monitor will be disabled and no events will be logged or acted upon.
The range should cater for days of the week and times during that day. Would having a month option be useful (to monitor only in January for example)?

Events created will be completely silent but still logged to the Text and Grid logs and any automation steps will also be run, there will just be no indication to the user that anything has happened.
This can be useful for ignoring events in directories you knowingly are making changes to and want to log the changes, but not be concerned with a notification. More important directories can notify you in some way so that…
